Forst of all, is it intended that the ProFTP server is removed?

The /var/lib/dpkg/info/proftpd-core.list file seems to be damaged. Can you check it:

cat /var/lib/dpkg/info/proftpd-core.list

With the version of the package, we could recover the original one:

dpkg -l proftpd-core
