Option to add the currently displayed directory as a project

Sometimes I find that I want to add the directory that is currently specified in the text field as a project itself, but have to go up one level and then add it as an entry from the list (often with more scrolling or filtering). I think that's too much user input in place of a direct add feature. Assuming I haven't missed it and its already there! :D

It would be nice if there was a separate '+' for the currently displayed directory itself. I tried clicking on the plus sign in the top left corner... but no luck :) Maybe that one could be 'active', or another to the right hand side in/out of the text box to keep consistency?

We have a keyboard shortcut for adding the highlighted directory as a project directory, I think it would make sense to make it use the current input value if nothing is selected and if the current input is a directory. Does that sound like it'd handle your use case?

Ah, I didn't know that command was there unbound. I hadn't ventured further than the already bound commands in my search for a way to do this.

Yes that would certainly work well in my case if it was set to take the current path with nothing else selected. 👍 Maybe link it up with a shortcut by default to give it more visibility to go with the expanded usability(?) But more generally I still think it may be nice to have the clickable option as well, I often find myself on the mouse/trackpad on this UI, in order to click on the pluses.

I think the existing command would be sufficient though, with the UI feature being just a 'nice to have'.

It's bound by default to Shift-Cmd-O/Ctrl-Alt-O.

It'll depend on how easy it is to overlay the plus on the textbox; the plus in the top left isn't really appropriate, and in fact probably should be the open icon instead.

So it is :D I only looked at the 'Keybindings' list below the package settings and it doesn't appear in there. That's a lesson to always check the command palette! 😀 😎

Actually realised that on a closer inspection after that post. Went on a clicking mission trying to add the folder and got drawn to the familiar icon! It does seem not so straight forward to add a plus in a neat way, so that's understandable.
