Cyrillic characters are not looking good with new font

I'm not sure if you're aiming at multi-language support, but anyways, you should specify some fallback font or something like that for cases like this.

UPD: things are looking a bit better on my Arch Linux, I think Windows may not include by default any of these fonts besides Arial, so things are not looking so great there
maybe it's a good idea to include these with @font-face

We could certainly try that. We'll look into other sensible fallbacks that are likely to be system fonts and get back to you.
