Hello,

I have for you new graphic design proposition for http://arewedistributedyet.com
I rearrange it a little and add some love :) Now is on tabs and sorted by browser.
Please let me know what do you think about it :) 馃憤

First page is just a carrousel with browser icons (it will be fun if they will rise on hover like icons on mac)

Tab open on click:

oh wow I love that!

One suggestion - a per browser overall progress indication before I click?

I'd like to quickly be able to glance and see chrome - yep, firefox - yep, safari - nope etc.

Wow, I really like the visuals! Especially "the rain of features" coming to us 鈽勶笍

I have some thoughts on the way data is presented tho: I don't think we should use browser name as an entry point (it is hiding "the big picture" by showing status for one browser at a time).

I'd say it should follow current version, which shows a list of features and status for all browsers at the same time. The key is to be able to quickly skim over entire page and build a rough understanding where we are across all browsers (the big picture).

I think that now we have clearer view to all things in one browser. And also this one click is so much faster then scroll 3 screens and serching needed information :) We can also add this tick badge to give clear msg "chrome - yep" ;>

I will also think about it more ;) so stay tuned

I am afraid ecosystem is too complex for a simple "yes - no" checkbox :)

Keep in mind we don't want the page to focus on browser vendors.
It should focus on a list of specific needs that can be addressed by vendors. It means we want to show status of each feature across all browsers without the need for clicking 6+ times to see status across all browsers.

@akrych ahh yes, although they'll all be "off" right now so it would be good to have an off state as well?

Traffic lights style? - except I think if we did that there should be more than 3 states as I think otherwise they'll mostly all be orange!

Overall progress bar instead?

This look amazing as always! Have you given thought to whether the top-level grouping should by browser vs. by feature?

My stab at categorising the users of this web site:

  1. Developers who want to use the distributed web
    • "can I use X on browser Y?"
  2. Browser vendors (again, developers) who want to enable use of the distributed web
    • "what are the things that need to be added or improved?"
  3. People who are curious about the state of the distributed web
    • "what makes the web distributed?"
    • "what vendors support the distributed web? If no support or partial, why?"

I think the current design addresses the 2nd question of user 3 really well, but it's not quite as good for user 1 or 2, or for the 1st question for user 3 but it still does the job.

So, I totally understand where @lidel is coming from by asking to put the issues first - it is the most important thing for our users.

However, the challenge with putting the issues first is that they have no image or logo that makes it interesting or engaging. Browser icons are beautiful and interesting so I totally understand why @akrych has organised it like this. I also like that the logos aren't repeated many times over for each issue. I'm torn between the two because I do really love the design.

This looks good to me. The one thing is just to make sure to include a place where we can have some copy or a link to another page explaining what this page is and what we're trying to do.
