Add usage statistics

Usage statistics similar to those provided by services like Google Analytics, such as daily active users and session time, would be very helpful to assess the public performance of binders. Do you plan to implement such a feature or is there a way to integrate an analytics service in a binder repository already?

No explicit plans yet and no obvious way to integrate Google Analytics, but this would definitely be cool! And because we log all usage statistics, the information definitely exists.

The simplest thing would probably be adding some content + visualizations under mybinder.org/usage or mybinder.org/stats that shows statistics for all binders in an easily browsable way. Folks should feel free to post ideas in this thread about what the most useful information would be.

Sounds great, a couple of stats I'd find very useful include:

• Active users over time showing the number of instances open at a given time, with at least daily or perhaps even more detailed data points.
• Average session duration over time and perhaps also for a selected timeframe as a histogram, showing the time users spend in the binder.
• Page popularity showing a breakdown of the individual pages in the binder by the number of visits from users, or by the time they spend on them. Really cool would be a user flow diagram such as the one Google Analytics provides that shows the number of users progressing from one page to the next.

Does the data exist for these stats, or could it be collected? I'll see if I can think of more useful metrics, ideas welcome :)
