I use spacy only for text segmentation and do not use the GPU. When I use import spacy, the bottom layer of spacy will call cupy.cuda.runtime.getDeviceCount(), which will cause my ram memory to increase by nearly 1g. I think Know how to disable the underlying call to cupy.cuda.runtime.getDeviceCount()
