MapLibre stops responding with weird, seemingly unrelated error message #4029

When I'm reloading my application a lot (often by the hot reload functionality), MapLibre sometimes crashes. Pins are still shown (and draggable), but the map itself just shows the background:

Screencast.from.24-04-24.00.00.46.webm

IF this happens, the console complains about 'thread.attach' from view-source:resource://devtools/shared/protocol/Actor.js with 'services.prefs is undefined'

Once this happened, reloading the tab often reproduces the issue - but everything works again when opening a new tab

I have a hard time to consistently reproduce this issue - it happens rarely, but often enough to be annoying and also happens sometimes in the wild.

maplibre-gl-js version: 4.1.1

browser: Librewolf 122.0-2 (Firefox), Ubuntu 22.04

There are similar reports in these issues - but in Chrome (and often on Android, but also on Windows):

I'm not aware of maplibre related issues.
Also maplibre doesn't offer a hot reload functionality, so I'm not sure how this issue is related to this repo.
If you could create a reproduction that uses only maplibre without any wrappers then I might be able to help.
