I think it would be useful to have to option to "snooze" an article. You would pick a duration (could also be set automatically with a filter) and the article would either disappear completely or enter some kind of frozen state (doesn't show as unread and protected from deletions). Then when the duration chosen has passed it returns to normal as an unread article.
This feature could be useful if you have some kind of event in your feed happening at a later time that you do not want to miss (and can't be bothered to copy the relevant details and set an alarm for in some other app). Personally my main use case is YouTube "premieres" that keeps popping up in my feeds despite not actually being available.
