transfer completes but osfclient.cli.upload hangs

I'm uploading a large (~3.3Gb) file using osfclient.cli.upload(). The transfer to the OSF repo completes (i.e. I can download the file from OSF and it's bit-wise identical to the uploaded file), but the osfclient.cli.upload() function never completes, it just hangs indefinitely.

I've tried several times with the same result every time. I also tried from the command line rather than python with the same result. Uploading smaller files works fine.
