Can someone please explain the --path flag and when and how to use it?

I am also having the doubt

-p, --path <path> filename used to resolve includes
-b, --basedir <path> path used as root directory to resolve absolute includes

what is resolving includes mean here
either

  1. does it mean resolve includes as partial and do not render into html
  2. it is template name when using include (similar to basepath)
  3. resolve it as include and render in separate folder

I am also having another doubt, does pug-cli has any option to exclude directory
