reason: viewing a calendar sideways is a better use of space (definitely on week view)
reason against: code needs to be rewritten so it won't log out

To allow it everywhere is just removing the portrait on the activities in AndroidManifest.xml, but not allowing it in dashboard but allowing it on other places seems to be a hard thing to do.

I've tried things like that, and it made the app return to the Dashboard, which then turned to portrait.
