It's very annoying when hitting C-c C-b finally ends up with no errors and closes down the error frame. If I don't create a new small frame, a fresh error will take over one of my other small frames and then close that, too. As a workaround, I add a redundant import just to make sure I always have at least one warning.

Is there an option to prevent it from closing down the error reporting frame when there are no more errors or warnings?

You could try shackle to keep the window in a place you like.
