There doesn't seem to be a way to specify the .env location, in my case up two levels in the monorepo root. I saw in the pull request https://github.com/remix-run/remix/pull/2063/files adding support for dotenv that config.rootDirectory is used, but I don't see any documentation on rootDirectory or how to configure this option.
I'm not sure if this is just a config / documentation issue, or perhaps can be specified as a cli option?
The answer proposed at #3893 does not seem to work.
Edit: Nevermind, the above answer works. I was passing -r instead of -e... its been a long night >_<
