I’m a type designer and software developer based in Cairo, Egypt.
Type design
I design mainly Arabic typefaces, and I made a few popular ones like Amiri and Aref Ruqaa. I also occasionally do mathematical typefaces, like XITS and Euler. All my fonts are FLOSS fonts.
I have a virtual type foundry to host all my typeface projects: Alif Type (حروف ألف)
Software development
I also work on font processing, text layout and typesetting software, and I contribute to foundational libraries like HarfBuzz, Pango, Raqm, and FontTools, to name a few.
I also contributed (or occasionally contribute) to LibreOffice, XeTeX, LuaTeX, FontForge, GNOME, and many other FLOSS projects.
