The current minimum version is CMake 3.4. CMake 3.16 was released in 2019. Updating the minimum version to 3.16 will bring better support for Objective-C, Clang-CL, glvnd, link-time optimization, compiler features, VS solution generation and more.

This will not involve any changes to the C or Objective-C source files, which should still build with any custom build files they did before.
