I use the Canon EOS R7 with gphoto2 succesfull, really great work.
In my usage the HDMI output of the R7 should be used for video streaming simultaneously with video/photo capture.

But every gPhoto2 command causes a short black with a computer symbol at the HDMI output.
Is it possible to suppress this feature?

Many thanks for your thoughts and help.
Regards Josef

do you do repeated gphoto2 command line tool calls? then we do init / exit code and t his is probably not avoidable.

if you would use
gphoto2 --shell
or
a standalone long running program which just does init/exit once, it might fix it.

Hello Mr. Meissner,

thank you for your answer.
I tried the shell, but could not get it run.
The R7 only in movie mode outputs 16:9 video, so I have to use the movie mode. But I could not get it run in movie mode, it seems video capture does not work with the shell (or with my usual command).

I use the following command in normal mode (not movie mode), which works really well with the Canon EOS R7, but in the shell the camera does not capture movie at all.
When I do not use the shell video it captures with this command perfect (but with this short black):

gphoto2 --set-config eosremoterelease=3
--set-config capturetarget=1
--set-config viewfinder=1
--set-config movierecordtarget=Card
--wait-event=35s
--set-config movierecordtarget=None
--filename NewVid.mp4
--force-overwrite
--wait-event-and-download=6s

I tried different formatting, but no capture in movie-mode.

BTW when I make a "summary" in shell, I get this short black also, so probably this shows us, that it will not fix it.

Thanks for you ideas.
Regards
Josef
