In Xcode 9 and before, before building a target xcpretty will print a nice line like this: [20:17:13] Building {ProjectName}/{TargetName} [Debug]
This is really useful when there're many targets. But xcpretty does not print the line for Xcode 10's new build system.
(I use xcpretty on macOS projects, not sure if iOS projects have the same issue.)
