With this change, the power level sliders can be adjusted by moving the mouse over the plot view. Since the plot view is way larger than the sliders, this makes it easier to adjust the power levels accurately.
The behavior is borrowed from DS9, an astronomical image viewer.
It works by pressing Ctrl+Alt (or Cmd+Alt on mac) and then moving the mouse (without pressing any mouse buttons), or pressing the middle mouse button. Moving the mouse up and down adjusts the contrast, moving left and right adjusts the bias.
This behavior may be not very intuitive, but once you know it it's very handy. If you don't know it, you're not likely to run into it by accident.
